Pistacia chinensis
Chinese Pistachio
Chinese Pistachio is a small deciduous tree with exfoliating bark and compound dark green leaves that are aromatic when crushed. Fall color varies between orange, yellow, and reds but is best known for its crimson red. The visible but inconspicuous green flower panicles bloom in spring and are followed by inedible fruits that go from red to blue as they mature in fall. Grows best in full sun with rich well-drained soils.
