Liriodendron tulipifera

Tulip Poplar Tree

Size

Tulip Poplar Tree is a large fast-growing deciduous tree with a pyramidal habit that is absent of lower branches. The rich blue-green leaves turn yellow in fall while the large cup shaded tulip-like flowers are a creamy yellow with orange center bands.  Despite the size of the flowers, they may go unnoticed until the petals start to fall as they grow at the top of the tree. Following the flowers are soft brown wing-like seedpods.  Best color in full sun and moist well-drained soil.
